Well another Skylines Australia (SAU-VIC) DECA has been run and won by the “opposition” a Subaru WRX STi!
Congratulations to Darren Golding for taking out overall first position against some very tough competition from SAU top guns, Chris Thomson in his White R33 GTR & Andrew Richmond in the Blue R34 GTR!

DECA for the uniniated – By Alan, saff_cossie on http://www.skylinesaustralia.com
A day at DECA Shepparton using the skid pan and the back tracks. Traditionally (cannot speak for this one), the back track has two variations, Long Wang and Short Wang which are timed against the clock in the morning. The skid pan is single use in the morning against the clock (by single I mean not against other cars but a passenger is permitted provided they have either entered or signed a waiver). The morning is split into 2 groups with half doing the back tracks and half doing the skid pan, then rotate before lunch.
The afternoon comprises or more “battle” type events with one car pitted against another on a run up the skidpan and back down again, kind of slalom type event. This takes us through from 9 until about 4.30-5.00pm. From there, we all meet up at Taco Bills for dinner and drinks before hitting the town.

Melbourne - Nissan Skyline R32 GTS4 Turbo AWD For Sale
Wednesday May 7, 2008, by Staff
I wanted a Turbo and AWD (All Wheel Drive) for performance and the HR32 GTS4 was one of the only Skylines with it available at that time, at a price I could justify around $35,000.
It was in immaculate condition when I bought it and it still is as good or better than most Skyline R32’s around these days.

Bugatti Veyron the fastest most powerful and most expensive turbo car in history
Thursday April 24, 2008, by Staff
Development of this vehicle began with the 1999 EB 18/4 “Veyron” concept car which itself had a chassis based on that of the Bugatti 18/3 Chiron concept car. Introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show, it was similar in design and appearance to the final Veyron production car. The production Veyron was shown for the first time on October 19, 2005 at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Targa Tasmania 2008 Provisional Results Overall 20 Top placed Leaders - Most Turbos
Monday April 21, 2008, by Staff
Congratulations to Steve Glenney & Bernie Webb in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO for an outstanding effort against formidable competition in larger capacity Turbo AWD cars. Unfortunately the Alford 2008 Nissan GTR and the White Lamborghini were not there at the finish along with quite a few other unlucky competitors.

Featured Turbo Models
Audi
Audi Quattro AWD Turbo
This was the inspiration for Japanese & other Manufacturers to look seriously at AWD & TurboCharging. Dominant in its day on the road and rally tracks around the world, the Audi Quattro was ahead of its time and the competition.
Lotus
Lotus Espirit Turbo
In 1988 a new version Lotus Espirit Turbo incorporating rounder styling cues by designer Peter Stevens of McLaren F1 fame was released. The addition of a water to air intercooler known as the chargecooler produced up to 264 horsepower with 280 available on overboost, and zero to sixty miles per hour times reduced to 4.7 seconds, with a top speed of over 160 mph (260 km/h).
Mazda
Mazda Familia GTX & GTR
Un-Familia to most in Australia, GTX and GT-R are very fast AWD Manual 1.8 Ltr Turbo hatchbacks that were designed to challenge the worlds best WRC turbo car manufacturers in the early nineties. GTR featured a stronger gearbox (G5M-R), sodium filled exh. valve stems, aggressive front bumper and bonnet vents, stronger engine internals, and larger upgraded roller-bearing turbo.
Nissan
Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-T
THE HR32 Skyline GTS-t is blessed with an RB engine of lesser capacity than the RB26DETT GTR, but still turbocharged to power the two litres of high revving ECCS RB20DET. As most owners want to have the power of “Godzilla” as well as the looks, there is many ways to improve the output toward standard GTR levels to try to give that ultimate GTR experience (although only RWD) at less cost.
BMW
BMW 2002Ti
BMW engineers claimed 0-60 Mph (0-100 Km/h) in 7.0 seconds and 130 Mph (211 Km/h). It caused quiet a storm in the mid-70’s. BMW had successfully produced Europe’s first turbo-charged production road car that could only be beaten by a Porsche Carrera with 210 Bhp. Enhanced with a boot spoiler to aid high-speed stability, wide arches to house 185 ×13 wheels, and aggressive front spoiler and no front bumper.
Toyota
Toyota Supra Turbo
The Toyota Supra Turbo JZ engine series have been the subject of extensive mods over the years worldwide having been sold into the US as LHD. The JZ engine is an amazing straight six cylinder of three litre & Twin Turbos, but usually these are replaced with a large single as the natural low down torque will overcome lag issues. 500HP is not enough to kill the standard bottom end of a 1&2JZ.
Subaru
Subaru WRX
The first Subaru WRX appealed to the drivers that wanted a fast and capable mid sized four door sports vehicle. The AWD chassis seemed to come alive with the turbocharged flat four ‘Boxer’ 2.0ltr engine with more power than seemed possible for those addicted to performance. Even more power was possible with few mods and many were enhanced to provide almost supercar performance.
Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi 3000 GTO
The Mitsubishi AWD V6 Twin Turbo is an exciting looking sports machine but never really seemed to deliver the promised performance that would have made it a sales success. The weight of the solidly built coupe was an area of reported displeasure amongst motoring journalists at its time of release. Even though the on road ability was exceptional with the Turbo’s & AWD, few wanted to pay the $100,000 plus for ownership.
