STOP the PRESSES SAUVIC GOR Run held up by old R31 Skyline in lead
Saturday August 23, 2008, by Staff
Heard from a normally reliable source, the SAUVIC Skylines Australia Victoria GOR – Great Ocean Road – Run today was held in check by an old and slow R31 Skyline coupe believed to be the slowest in the Country! While most GOR runs are usually brisk within the limits of the law and the lay of the land (read: ever decreasing radius corners!) many complained that the old dark gray lead tipped box up front just was not up to the responsibility of carving the canyons for the following ‘Proper Skylines’!

No the car is not turbocharged, its just that the driver is!

Audi
Audi Quattro AWD Turbo
This was the inspiration for Japanese & other Manufacturers to look seriously at AWD & TurboCharging. Dominant in its day on the road and rally tracks around the world, the Audi Quattro was ahead of its time and the competition.
Lotus
Lotus Espirit Turbo
In 1988 a new version Lotus Espirit Turbo incorporating rounder styling cues by designer Peter Stevens of McLaren F1 fame was released. The addition of a water to air intercooler known as the chargecooler produced up to 264 horsepower with 280 available on overboost, and zero to sixty miles per hour times reduced to 4.7 seconds, with a top speed of over 160 mph (260 km/h).
Mazda
Mazda Familia GTX & GTR
Un-Familia to most in Australia, GTX and GT-R are very fast AWD Manual 1.8 Ltr Turbo hatchbacks that were designed to challenge the worlds best WRC turbo car manufacturers in the early nineties. GTR featured a stronger gearbox (G5M-R), sodium filled exh. valve stems, aggressive front bumper and bonnet vents, stronger engine internals, and larger upgraded roller-bearing turbo.
Nissan
Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-T
THE HR32 Skyline GTS-t is blessed with an RB engine of lesser capacity than the RB26DETT GTR, but still turbocharged to power the two litres of high revving ECCS RB20DET. As most owners want to have the power of “Godzilla” as well as the looks, there is many ways to improve the output toward standard GTR levels to try to give that ultimate GTR experience (although only RWD) at less cost.
BMW
BMW 2002Ti
BMW engineers claimed 0-60 Mph (0-100 Km/h) in 7.0 seconds and 130 Mph (211 Km/h). It caused quiet a storm in the mid-70’s. BMW had successfully produced Europe’s first turbo-charged production road car that could only be beaten by a Porsche Carrera with 210 Bhp. Enhanced with a boot spoiler to aid high-speed stability, wide arches to house 185 ×13 wheels, and aggressive front spoiler and no front bumper.
Toyota
Toyota Supra Turbo
The Toyota Supra Turbo JZ engine series have been the subject of extensive mods over the years worldwide having been sold into the US as LHD. The JZ engine is an amazing straight six cylinder of three litre & Twin Turbos, but usually these are replaced with a large single as the natural low down torque will overcome lag issues. 500HP is not enough to kill the standard bottom end of a 1&2JZ.
Subaru
Subaru WRX
The first Subaru WRX appealed to the drivers that wanted a fast and capable mid sized four door sports vehicle. The AWD chassis seemed to come alive with the turbocharged flat four ‘Boxer’ 2.0ltr engine with more power than seemed possible for those addicted to performance. Even more power was possible with few mods and many were enhanced to provide almost supercar performance.
